Stock Market shed N197.35 billion on Monday

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) lost N197.35 billion of its equity market capitalisation on Monday to close at N12.62 trillion from N12.81 trillion recorded last Friday.

The market indicator dipped by 1.55% to close at 26,115.8 index points. The market made 2,605 deals trading in 188.79 million shares valued at N2.43 billion.

Top gainers

A.G Leventis Plc was the highest gainer in the Stock market with 10% gain to close at N0.55 followed by Japaul Oil Plc, which also gained 10% to close at N0.22. NAHCO gained 8.96% to close at N2.31, Linkage Assurance Plc gained 8.16% to close at N0.53 while Jaiz Bank Plc gained 6.06% to close at N0.7.

Top losers

Cornerstone Insurance Plc lost 9.52% to close at N0.38. Transcorp Hotels plc lost 9.26% to close at N4.9. Etisalat Transnational also lost 9.09% to close at N6. First bank holdings stock price declined by 7.69% to close at N6 while MTN Nigeria lost 6.67% to close at N105.

Top trades by volume

UBA Plc was the most actively traded stock today having made deals in 32.17 million shares valued at N215.8 million across 182 deals. Guaranty trust bank traded in 26.33 million shares at N777.96 million across 117 deals.

Access Bank Plc traded in 24.99 million shares at N238.8 million across 179 deals, NASCON plc traded 15.38 million shares at N192.28 million across 27 deals while First bank Holdings rounded off the list with trades in 12.98 million shares at N78.81 million across 248 deals.
