Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, was recently conferred an honorary doctoral degree by Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
The billionaire took to his Twitter page to announce the development, expressing how deeply humbled he is to be honoured by the university, which he described as one of the most prestigious Nigerian universities.
According to him:
I am truly honored and humbled to accept the honorary doctoral degree from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University(ABU), Zaria, an institution famed for its academic rigour and quality of staff, and the enriching experiences of life within its walls.

The event happened over the weekend, April 27, 2019, at Mamman Kontagora Square during the 41st convocation ceremony of the Almadu Bello University, Zaria.
Comrade Sunmonu was also conferred alongside with the business mogul: According to the university registrar, Ahmed Abdullahi Kundila, Aliko Dangote and Comrade Sunmonu were honoured for their immense contribution to the economic and human development of the nation.
Aliko Dangote Hall was also commissioned at the event:Â The business mogul also disclosed via his tweet, that the school will commission the Aliko Dangote Hall, which he had earlier donated to them to improve its academic performance.
He also noted that the hall comprises of 10 blocks of fully equipped accommodation complex with the capacity to house over 2,000 students, built and donated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation to Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU) Zaria.
