Investors gain N53 billion as NSE closes in the green

The Nigerian Stock Exchange ended today’s trading session on a negative. The All Share Index closed at 30,878.56 basis points, up 0.46%. Year to date, the index is down 1.76%.

Market capitalization closed slightly up by N53 billion from the prior day.

Top Gainers and Losers

First Aluminum Plc was the best performing stock today. The stock gained 9.68% to close at N0.34. Fidelity Bank was next, appreciating by 9.57% to close at N2.29. Union Diagnostics Plc rounds up the top three gainers for today. The stock added 7.69% to close at N0.28.

On the flip side, Resort Savings and Loans Plc was the worst performing stock today. The stock shed 8.33% to close at N0.22. Sovreign Trust Insurance was next dropping by 4.55% to close at N0.21. UAC of Nigeria Plc rounds up the top three losers for today. The stock shed 4.49% to close at N8.50.

Top Trades by Volume

Access Bank was the most actively traded stock today. 155 million shares valued at N875 million were traded in 222 deals. UBA was next with 62.1 million shares valued at N450 million traded in 320 deals. FCMB rounds up the top three most actively traded with 32.2 million shares valued at N63.2 million were traded in 136 deals.

Corporate Actions

Tripple Gee Plc

Tripple Gee Plc released its results for the third quarter ended December 30, 2018. Turnover increased from N494 million in 2017 to N546 million in 2018. Profit before tax jumped from N10.2 million in 2017 to N22.7 million in 2018. Profit after tax also rose from N5.3 million in 2017 to N16 million in 2018.

Unity Bank Plc 

The board of Unity Bank Plc will be meeting on February 8, 2019, by 10am. Among the items on the agenda, are the bank’s audited results for the 2018 financial year, as well as an update on capital raising efforts.

The bank has subsequently declared a closed period from today till 24 hours after the release of the results.
