Another day filled with blues on the NSE

NSE Nigerian stocks, UBA, Zenith, First Bank lead actively traded stocks on Tuesday , Courteville, Jaiz Bank, Transcorp lead gainers on Friday

The Nigerian Stock Exchange closed today’s trading session on a negative note, as the All Share Index closed at 34,848.45 basis points, down 0.68%. Year to date, the index is down 8.88%.

Top Gainers and Losers 

Newrest ASL Limited was the best performing stock in today’s session. The stock closed at N5.50, up 10%. LASACO Assurance Plc closed at N0.33, also gaining 10%. First Aluminum Plc rounds up the list of top 3 gainers, closing at N0.34, up 9.68%.

On the flip side, Jaiz Bank was the worst performing stock in today’s trading session. The stock closed at N0.50, down 9.09%. Chams Plc depreciated by 8.82% to close at N0.31. Honeywell Flour Mills rounds up the top 3 losers closing at N1.49, down 8.02%

Top Trades by volume 

Diamond Bank was largest traded stock by volume, as 102 million shares valued at N124 million were traded in 51 deals. Next is Zenith Bank which traded 47.7 million shares valued at N997 million in 556 deals. Guaranty Trust Bank rounds up the top three trades by volume with 36.4 million shares valued at N1.3 billion in 337 deals.

UBA Plc  

UBA Plc has appointed 4 Non Executive Directors. Angela Aneke Erelu Angela Adebayo, Isaac Fasola and Abdulqadir Bello. This follows the retirement of Rose Okwechime, Adekunle Olumide, Jafaru Paki and Yahaya Zekeri from the board.

AIICO Insurance Plc 

AIICO Insurance Plc will be holding an Extra Ordinary General Meeting on Friday the 5th of October 2018. Agenda of the meeting are to consider and if thought fit pass the following resolutions.

The directors are authorized subject to the approval of relevant authorities to raise 4.4 billion ordinary shares of N0.50 each at N1.20 per share by way of  a special/private placment.

The proposed shares to be issued shall rank parri passu with the ordinary shares held by existing members of the public.

The directors are authorized to take all actions deemed necessary and expedient without further recourse to shareholders

Sovereign Trust Insurance 

Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 27th of September 2018.

PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc 

PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc released its results for the full year ended May 2018. Revenue increased from N78.2 billion in 2017 to N80.5 billion in 2018.

Profit before tax fell sharply from N4.8 billion in 2017 to N2.3 billion in 2018.  Profit after tax also dropped from N3.6 billion in 2017 to N1.9 billion in 2018.
