The U.S oil, popularly known as the West Texas Intermediate, hit $70 a barrel in the Asian session, for the first time since October 2018.
Brent crude gained 0.30% to $43.69 as of 8: 20 AM GMT.
Brent crude futures gained 1.46% while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose 0.91% to trade at $41.81.
Brent crude futures went down by about 1% to trade at $26.16 as at 5.45am local time.
Brent crude had an impressive gain of about 23%, while U.S oil surged by about 17%.
Something odd occurred in the crude oil markets days ago. Prices plunged so low that some oil traders had to pay oil buyers to bail them out.
