The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released 1,264,940 results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for April 17 and 18 candidates.

The disclosure was contained in the Board’s latest bulletin, signed by its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin.

The UTME is Nigeria’s centralised entrance examination into tertiary institutions, with over 2.2 million candidates registered for the 2026 exercise.

What they are saying

According to the board, a total of 1,897,692 results have been released so far from the first three days of the examination.

The Board had earlier released 632,752 results of candidates who sat the examination on Thursday, 16 April 2026.

  • “The results of candidates who sat the examination on Friday, 17 April and Saturday, 18 April 2026 have now been released. A total of 1,264,940 results from these two days are available for candidates to check/view,” they stated.

The examination is scheduled to run for 10 days, from April 16 to April 25, 2026.

How to check your 2026 UTME result via SMS

To access their UTME scores, candidates must use the mobile number used during registration. JAMB has provided two official SMS numbers—55019 and 66019—for the result-checking service.

Candidates are to follow these steps

  • Open the messaging app on the mobile phone used for JAMB registration.
  • Compose a new message by typing “RESULT” in capital letters, followed by a space and the JAMB Registration Number.
  • Send the message to either 55019 or 66019.
  • Wait for a response from JAMB, which will include the candidate’s UTME scores for each subject.
  • This method incurs a N100 SMS charge, which will be deducted from the user’s mobile airtime.

How to check your result through the JAMB website

In addition to the SMS option, JAMB also allows candidates to check their results through its official portal. This method provides a more detailed view of individual scores and can be accessed using a smartphone or computer.

Here’s how to check your UTME result online:

Visit the JAMB e-facility portal: Go to https://www.jamb.gov.ng/Efacility.

Log in: Enter your JAMB registration number or email address and your password.

Click on “Print Examination Slip”: This option will display your examination details.

View your result: Your full UTME result will be shown on the screen.

What you should know

The examination is scheduled to hold nationwide from April 16 to April 25, 2026, with over 1,000 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres deployed, up from fewer than 800 in 2025, to accommodate candidates and improve access

Following the mock UTME conducted earlier in April, the Board delisted 23 CBT centres across multiple states after identifying technical and operational deficiencies.

The affected centres were found to have experienced issues ranging from system failures and network disruptions to delays that prevented candidates from taking the examination as scheduled.
