Nigerian businessman and billionaire, Femi Otedola has given reasons why he assisted the ailing actor, Sadiq Daba by footing the bills for his treatment.

After news broke that the veteran actor had health issues, Otedola rose to the occasion and paid his medical bills.

Sadiq Daba had initially battled with Leukaemia and prostate cancer, and just a few weeks ago, he was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

“For me, taking care of Sadiq’s medical expenses is my little way of showing appreciation and gratitude for the good memories he created for me and others in the past.

“I must say that even though I don’t know Mr Daba personally, he is a face I am familiar with through the old TV drama production ‘Cock Crow at Dawn’ which I used to watch while growing up.”

Otedola stressed that actors like Daba paved the way for others in the entertainment industry and as such should be accorded all the recognition they deserve.

“In other climes, the likes of Sadiq Daba and other such actors who more or less paved the way for the entertainment industry and the Nollywood industry in Nigeria (which is touted as the 3rd largest movie industry in the world) would be celebrated as icons and due recognition would be accorded to them.”

This is not the first time the Geregu Plc boss is assisting prominent people. He once paid the medical bills of the legendary actor, Victor Olaotan and recently, he footed the bills of ex-Super Eagles player and Coach, Christian Chukwu who had prostate cancer.
