The Nigerian Stock Exchange ended Tuesday’s trading session in positive territory. The All Share Index closed at 29,318.02 basis points, up 0.10%. Year to date, the index is down 6.72%.
Airtel Africa Plc’s stock debuted on the NSE at N399.30 and closed trading at N399.30. A total of 100,110 shares valued at 39,973,923.00 were traded in 7 deals.
Top Gainers and Losers: Cadbury Nigeria Plc was the best performing stock today. The stock gained 4.37% to close at N11.95. Japaul Oil & Maritime Services Plc gained 4.35% to close at N0.24. Dangote Flour Mills Plc gained 1.75% to close at N17.40. Morison Industries Plc gained 1.69% to close at N0.60. Nigerian Breweries Plc also gained 0.83% to close at N60.50, rounding off the top gainers’ list.
On the flip side, GlaxoSmithKline was the worst performing stock, declining by 9.78% to close at N8.30. Courteville Business Solutions Plc fell by 8.70% to close at N0.21. Ecobank Transnational Inc fell by 8.65% to close at N9.50. Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc fell by 8.26% to close at N10.55. Wema Bank Plc was the last of the top five losers for the day. The stock shed 7.58% to close at N0.61.

Top Trades by Volume: Cornerstone Insurance Plc was the most actively traded stock today. 80,124,689 shares valued at N16,025,122.80 were traded in 8 deals. Zenith Bank Plc was next with 48,521,958 shares valued at N922,836,522.65 traded in 512 deals followed by Guaranty Trust Bank Plc with 29,773,914 shares valued at N840,852,576.55 traded in 460 deals.
Transnational Corp Of Nigeria Plc was next with 17,547,056 shares valued at N18,117,995.61 traded in 117 deals. FBN Holdings Plc rounds up the top five most actively traded stocks today with 16,909,311 shares valued at N104,586,463.75 traded in 194 deals.
Corporate Actions: Access Bank Plc denied being in talks with Union Bank Of Nigeria Plc or any of its shareholders over the acquisition of the bank. Union bank also discarded rumours about Access Bank trying to acquire it
Meanwhile, Dangote Cement Plc disclosed that the meeting of its Board of Directors will be held on the 26th of July 2019 to discuss its unaudited financial statements for the period ended June 30, 2019, and some other vital issues.
The company also noted that trading of its shares will be closed from July 11, 2019, to 24 hours after the above financial statements have been released to the public.
Chams Plc said it is holding a Board meeting on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, to consider the unaudited half year account for 2019.
