The Stock Market rounds up the week on a bearish note

NSE records 18.18% decline in banks' market capitalisation, Best performing stocks on the NSE Year-to-date

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ended Friday’s trading session in negative territory. The All Share Index closed at 29,270.95 basis points, down 0.10%. Year to date, the index is down 6.87%.

Top Gainers and Losers: Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc was the best performing stock today. The stock gained 10% to close at N0.33. Conoil Plc also gained 9.93% to close at N23.80. Courteville Business Solutions Plc gained 9.52% to close at N0.23. Morison Industries Plc gained 9.26% to close at N0.59. Academy Press Plc was the last of the top five gainers for Friday by gaining 8.11% to close at N0.40.

On the flip side, Learn Africa Plc was the worst performing stock, declining by 9.59% to close at N1.32. Wapic Insurance Plc also fell by 6.98% to close at N0.40. Livestock Plc fell by 5.88% to close at N0.48. NEM Insurance Plc fell by 5.70% to close at N2.15. Mutual Benefit Assurance Plc was the fifth of the top five losers for the day. The stock shed 4.76% to close at N0.20.

Top Trades by Volume: Wapic Insurance Plc was the most actively traded stock today. 78.3 million shares valued at N31.3 million were traded in 43 deals. Morison Industries Plc was next with 45.4 million shares valued at N24.5 million traded in 4 deals, followed by FBN Holdings Plc with 35.4 million shares valued at N220 million traded in 155 deals. United Bank of Africa Plc was next with 28.5 million shares valued at N172 million traded in 266 deals. Zenith Bank Plc was the last of the top five most actively traded stocks on Friday with 23.1 million shares valued at N448 million traded in 308 deals.
