November was a bearish month on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, as the NSE All Share Index closed at 30,874.17 basis points, down 4.90%. Year to date, the index is down 19.27%.

25 equities appreciated in price during the week, lower than thirty 30 in the previous week. 41 equities depreciated in price, higher than 24 of the previous week, while 103 equities remained unchanged, lower than 115 equities recorded in the preceding week.

Top Gainers

Continental Reinsurance  Plc

Continental Reinsurance was the best performing stock this week. The stock opened at N1.50 and closed at N2, up N0.50 or 33.33%. Year to date, the stock is up 42.86%.

The surge in the company’s stock price is largely due to a notice issued this week pertaining to a proposed acquisition by its dominant shareholder. CRe African Investments Limited is offering N2.04 per share for the 10,372,744,314 ordinary shares of 50 kobo each, which it does not own.

Beta Glass Plc

Beta Glass gained 9.98% this week. The stock opened at N62.10 and closed at N68.30, up N6.20. Year to date, the stock is up 33.11%.

Cutix Plc

Cutix Plc opened the week at N1.66 and closed at N1.82, up N0.16 or 9.64%. Year to date, the stock is down 9.45%.

The company this week released its results for the half year ended October 2018.

GSK Consumer Nigeria Plc 

GSK Consumer Nigeria Plc gained 9.43% this week. The stock opened at N13.25 and closed at N14.50, up N1.25. Year to date, the stock is down 32.90%.

Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc 

Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc opened the week at N0.23 and closed at N0.25, up N0.02 or 8.70%. Year to date, the stock is down 50%.

CAP Plc

CAP Plc added 7.88% this week. The stock opened at N29.20 and closed at N31.50, up N2.30. Year to date, the stock is down 7.35%.

PZ Cussons Nigeria

11 Plc 

11 Plc (formerly known as Mobil Oil Nigeria) opened at N165 and closed at N175, up N10 or 6.06%. Year to date, the stock is down 10.07%.

NAHCO Plc

Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc rounds up the top 10 gainers for today. The stock opened at N3.43 and closed at N3.60, up N0.17 or 4.96%. Year to date, the stock is down 9.55%.

Top Losers

Diamond Bank Plc

Diamond Bank was the worst performing stock this week, shedding 31.58%. The stock opened at N0.95 and closed at N0.65, down N0.30. Year to date, the stock is down 56.67%.

The bank this week expressed confidence it would meet bond payments due next year and stated it had gotten approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to operate as a national bank. The move means the bank will require a lower minimum capital adequacy ratio, of 10% to operate.

Prestige Assurance Plc 

Prestige Assurance Plc opened at N0.79 and closed at N0.55, down N0.24 or 30.38%. Year to date, the stock is up 10%.

Unity Bank Plc

Unity Bank Plc declined by 18.82% this week. The stock opened at N0.85 and closed at N0.69, down N0.16. Year to date, the stock is up 30.19%.

ABC Transport Plc 

ABC Transport Plc opened at N0.31 and closed at a year low of N0.27, down N0.04 or 12.90%. Year to date, the stock is down 46%.

AG Leventis Plc

AG Leventis Plc shed 12.12% this week. The stock opened at N0.33 and closed at N0.29, down N0.04. Year to date, the stock is down 58.57%.

Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc

Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc opened at N0.25 and closed at N0.22, down N0.03 or 12%. Year to date, the stock is down 56%.

NEM Insurance Plc 

NEM Insurance Plc opened at N2.65 and closed at N2.35, down N0.30 or 11.32%. Year to date, the stock is up 41.57%.

Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc

Seplat Petroleum Development Company declined by 9.68% this week. The stock opened at N652.70 and closed at N589.50, down 9.68%. Year to date, the stock is down 5.86% and is trading at a year low.

Law Union and Rock Insurance Plc opened at N0.52 and closed at N0.47, down N0.05 or 9.62%. Year to date, the stock is down 38.96% and is trading at a low.

John Holt Plc

John Holt Plc rounds up the top 10 losers for the week. The stock declined by 9.09%, opening at N0.44 and closing at N0.40, down N0.04. Year to date, the stock is down 20% and is at its year low.
