The Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index this week gained 0.21% to close at 40,928.70 basis points. Year to date, the index is up 7.02%. 37 equities appreciated in price during the week, 38 equities depreciated in price and 94 remained unchanged.

Gainers

Learn Africa Plc

Learn Africa was the week’s top gainer. The stock opened at N0.97 and closed at N1.15, gaining 18.56%. Year to date, the stock is up 30%.

11 Plc

11 Plc gained 17.65% within the week. The stock opened at N170 and closed at N200. Year to date, it is up 2.77%.

Oando Plc

Oando Plc moved up 15.19% within the week. The stock opened at ₦5.99 and closed at ₦6.90. A partial technical suspension that had been in effect since October was this week removed. Year to date, the stock is up 15.19%.

Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN)

CCNN, also known as Sokoto Cement, gained 13.48%. The stock opened at ₦13.48 and closed at ₦20.20. Year to date, CCNN is up 112.63%, making it one of the best performing stocks year to date.

Japaul Oil and Maritime Services Plc

The embattled oil services firm closed up 13.33% during the week. The stock opened at N0.45 and closed at N0.51. Year to date, Japaul is up 2%.

Skye Bank Plc

Skye Bank opened at N0.71 and closed at N0.80 this week, gaining N0.09 or 12.68%. Year to date, the stock is up 60%.

Sterling Bank

Sterling Bank gained 11.39% during the week. The stock opened at N1.58 and closed at N1.76. Year to date, it is up 11.39%.

Unity Bank

Unity bank appreciated by 9.90% within the week. The stock opened at N1.01 and closed at N1.11. Year to date, the stock is up 109.43%. Unity bank was the best performing stock last quarter.

Unity Kapital Assurance Plc (Veritas Kapital Assurance)

Unity Kapital opened at ₦0.23 and closed the week at ₦0.25, up 8.70%. Year to date, the stock is down 50%.

Wema Bank Plc

Wema Bank gained 8.24% during the week, opening at ₦0.85 and closing at ₦0.92. Year to date, the stock is up 76.92%.
The bank this week released its financial statements for the year ended December 2017. Gross earnings grew from N₦53.9 billion recorded in 2016 to ₦65.3 billion in 2017.
Profit before tax dropped from ₦3.25 billion recorded in 2016 to ₦3.01 billion in 2017. Profit after tax also fell from ₦2.56 billion to ₦2.26 billion in 2017.

Losers

C and I Leasing Plc

C and I Leasing is the biggest loser this week. The stock opened at N1.72 and closed at N1.41, down N0.31 or 18.02%. Year to date, the stock is down 9.30%.

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc

Consolidated Hallmark dropped by 14.71% during the week. The stock opened at N0.34 and closed at N0.29. Year to date, the stock is down 42%.

Unilever Nigeria Plc

The FMCG giant lost 13% this week. In naira terms, the stock lost N7.80, opening at N59.80 and closing at N52. Year to date, the stock is up 26.83%.

NEM Insurance Plc

NEM Insurance lost 11.11% during the week. The stock opened at ₦2.70 and closed at ₦2.40. Year to date, the stock is up 44.58%.

UBA Plc

UBA opened at ₦11.90 and closed at ₦10.65. The stock closed down ₦1.25 or 10.50%. UBA is up 3.40%, year to date.

May and Baker Plc

The pharmaceutical giant declined by 10% or N0.32 during the week. The stock opened at N3.20 and closed at N2.80. Year to date, the stock is up 10.77%.
The company last week released its financial statements for the year ended December 2017. Revenue grew from N8.47 billion in 2016 to N9.35 billion in 2017. Profit before tax also grew from N345.9 million in 2016 to N605.6 million in 2017. The company also declared a dividend of N0.20 per share.

Courteville Business Solutions Plc

Courteville lost 8.70% during the week. The stock opened at N0.23 and closed at N0.21, dropping N0.02. Year to date, the stock is down 58%.

UACN Property Development Company Plc

UPDC closed down by 8.20%. The stock opened at N3.05 and closed at N2.80, dropping by N0.25. Year to date, the stock is up 0.32%.

Transcorp Plc

Transcorp Plc lost N0.14 or 7.87% in this week’s trading session. The stock opened at N1.78 and closed at N1.64. Year to date, the stock is up 12.33%.

Fidelity Bank Plc

Fidelity bank dropped by 6.54% this week. The stock opened at N2.60 and closed at N2.43, down N0.17. Year to date, the stock is down 1.22%.
