The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in partnership with the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems (NIBSS), recently launched the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN), an initiative tailored towards addressing identified concerns that affect diasporas’ remittances.
Nigerians in the diaspora will be required to pay N80,000 ($50) to obtain a Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) remotely, according to findings by Nairametrics following the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) recent launch of the NRBVN platform.
Since its launch was first announced in Washington D.C. last year by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) initiative has continued to gain traction among Nigerians in the diaspora.
