The Stock Market Makes a U-Turn, Opens the Week on a Positive Note

All Share Index, Zenith, Fidelity, FBN leads actively traded stock on Wednesday

The Nigerian Stock Exchange ended Monday’s trading session in positive territory. The All Share Index closed at 29,287.87 basis points, up 0.06%. Year to date, the index is down 6.82%.

Top Gainers and Losers: Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc was the best performing stock today. The stock gained 10% to close at N16.50. Unity Bank Plc gained 9.68% to close at N0.68. Red Star Express Plc gained 9.09% to close at N5.40. Wema Bank Plc gained 8.20% to close at N0.66. Wapic Insurance Plc was the last of the top five gainers for today. The stock gained 8.16% to close at N2.65.

On the flip side, Forte Oil Plc was the worst performing stock, declining by 10% to close at N24.30. GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd fell by 9.80% to close at N9.20. Total Nigeria Plc fell by 5.41% to close at N140. Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc fell by 4.76% to close at N0.20. FCMB Plc was the last of the top five losers for the day. The stock shed 1.90% to close at N0.52.

Top Trades by Volume: Wapic Insurance Plc was the most actively traded stock today. 84.3 million shares valued at N33.9 million were traded in 30 deals. FBN Holdings was next with 16.2 million shares valued at N100 million traded in 197 deals followed by Zenith Bank Plc with 14.7 million shares valued at N282 million traded in 324 deals.

Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc was next with 14.2 million shares valued at N2.8 million traded in 38 deals. United Bank of Africa Plc rounds up the top five most actively traded stocks today with 13.5 million shares valued at N81.2 million traded in 219 deals.
