2023 general election: Tinubu condemns isolated infractions, violence, says healing process must start now

The president-elect, Bola Tinubu, has expressed sadness over what he described as isolated cases of infractions, ethnic slurs, and violence during the conduct of the recent 2023 general elections saying that’s unacceptable and antithetical to democratic ethos.

Tinubu appealed to all Nigerians to embrace the healing process now that the election circle is completed.

This was made known on Tuesday by Tinubu in a statement titled, ‘Elections are over Healing process must begin’, where he reassured Nigerians of his resolve to ensure inclusiveness in governance for the attainment of the nation’s full potential under his watch.

Tinubu in the statement praised President Muhammadu Buhari, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and other stakeholders, Tinubu, noting that consolidating democratic governance at the sub-national level will bring more development and improved quality of life to the masses.

Tinubu congratulates elected governors and state assembly members

The president-elect in the statement said, ‘’With the conclusion of the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections, I congratulate all the elected governors and assembly members for earning the mandate of the people. The March 18 governorship election held across 28 states and the state legislative poll across the 36 states of the federation have brought the 2023 election circle to a fitting close.

Condemns the recent electoral violence

The president-elect condemned the violence and other negative trends that have followed the conduct of the elections and appealed to Nigerians to rise above our differences and focus more on the “valued strings that bind us together as a people.
