Committee gets one week to submit MTEF/FSP report – Senate

Recall that yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari presented the 2020 Medium Term Expenditure Frame Work (MTEF) and the Fiscal Responsibility Paper (FSP) seeking approval from the Senate. 

The Senate has now mandated its committee on Finance to review the 2020 Medium Term Expenditure Frame Work (MTEF) and the Fiscal Responsibility Paper (FSP) and submit a report.

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, representing Lagos West Senatorial District is the head of the committee. 

Senate President, Ahmed Lawan tasked the committee to commence work on the documents after Majority leader, Abdullahi Yahaya urged the Senate to consider the President’s request.

The document is hereby referred to the Senate committee on Finance and the should report back and laid before the Senate on Wednesday next week,” Lawan said.

The 2020-2022 MTEF FSP was prepared taking into account key developments in the global and domestic environment.

The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan last week said the Upper Chamber was anxious to receive the MTEF and 2020 Budget from the executive and promised that the Senate would consider the MTEF within the first week of resumption.
