There is no doubt that there is a stiff competition in Nigeria’s banking sector. And with the recent trend encountered on social media between First Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc, it is convincing that the competition is becoming stiffer every day.
What ignited the competition: A young man believed to be in his 20s, had on Sunday, July 7, 2019, taken to Twitter to disclose his interest in working for First Bank Plc. The determined Twitter user identified as @Akanimoh_Friday, in one of his tweets, said he had always dreamt of working at First Bank.
@Akanimoh_Friday tweeted at some social media influencers, pleading for retweets to help him get the job. He disclosed that having worked for one of the bank’s branches in Akwa Ibom as a security official for five years, it would be fulfilling for him to get a corporate job with the bank.

He also insisted that all he’s concerned about was a trial, as he affirmed that it would be a fair advantage for him to learn on the job.

Reactions: @Akanimoh_Friday’s tweets generated reactions from his followers on the micro-blogging site, and other Twitter users. While some expressed their words of encouragements to him, others offered to help with job information should First Bank fail to consider his interest.

Surprisingly, one of those who reacted to the job quest was Dr. Chima Amadi. He quoted @Akanimoh_Friday’s tweet and said he would reactivate his account with First Bank with a whopping sum of N20 million, should the bank give @Akanimoh_Friday the job.

The drama: It became more interesting when Zenith Bank Plc replied Dr. Amadi’s tweet, and offered to give the young man a job.

However, as at the time of filing this report, Nairametrics could not confirm if @Akanimoh_Friday had been able to secure a job with any of the banks.
