Richard Branson, the Founder of Virgin Group Limited, has pointed out some of the things every entrepreneur should do in order to grow their businesses.
The business magnate and inventor was granting an interview to Big Think when he was asked what advice he had for entrepreneurs. And according to him, the most important thing to do when running a company is to always bear in mind that a company is made up of a group of people.
A good leader is a great listener
Speaking further, Mr Branson mentioned that as a leader of people, the entrepreneur must be a good listener and a great motivator. He or she must be very good at praising his people, especially when they perform well.
He added that people are just like flowers. When they are watered and taken care, they bloom to become individuals who have the best interest of the company at heart.
“I think the most important thing about running a company, is to remember all the time what a company is, a company is simply a group of people, and as a leader of people, you have to be a great listener, you have to be a great motivator, you must be good in praising and looking out for the good in people.
“People are no different from flowers if you water flowers they flourish, and that’s the critical attribute of a leader.”

Why it matters – Good leadership qualities are essential to running a company. Every other thing rotates around it.
Whether a company succeeds or fails depends on the leader’s management style. In other words, if the leader understands the concept of good management, the company would thrive.
Response to Richard Brandson’s interview
Richard Bransom’s interview spurred reactions from some Nigerians who feel some business leaders in the country need to learn the proper leadership skill, as many of them are lacking in so many ways.
Entrepreneurs, business leaders etc need to hear this over and over and over again.

So much wisdom here. How many employers (bosses) praise or recognize their employees (workers) for service. 🤔

For a lot of Nigerian companies they mostly feel like they are helping you by having you work for them.
