Here is The Impact of Latest NLNG Gas Pipeline Explosion

NNPC, Power generation

Nairametrics| Nigerians woke up on Thursday to the news of yet another gas explosion. This time it affected the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd (NLNG).

According to Reuters, the explosion hit one of its gas transmission systems, which houses two gas pipelines.

The explosion was also reported to have struck about 3 km from Rumuji in Rivers State, with one of the pipelines belonging to NLNG. NLNG claims no casualties were reported, and the incident is being investigated.

Impact

According to the head of oil and gas research for Ecobank Plc, Dolapo Oni,  the explosion will not affect gas supplies to Gencos and thus will not have any impact on power supply. He explained that the “gas was meant for exports and not for power so it does not affect power supply in the country”. He further explained that there are contingencies put in place for such explosions to ensure operations continue without negative consequences on revenue.
