FG’s Policies Are Ineffectual- NLC

The NLC President, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, has criticized the policies embarked upon by the present administration as ineffectual to resolving the economic crisis in the country. According to Wabba, these policies have only served to make life harder for the average worker.

Highlighting the various ways policies have worked against the nation’s workforce, Wabba who was speaking at he 14th NLC’s Rain School in Uyo on Monday, stated that the government’s methods only served to regress the progress already made.

“The challenge before all of us is an economy that is technically in recession and our government didn’t seem to get their acts right. Because if you look at the responses, it is geared towards taking away the gains that we have been able to make over the years.

“These are the only reasons they see in attending to the issues of the recession but I think we have options and those options are issues that we consider at this session. Comrades, it is important also for us to remain vigilant and get connected to our rank and file,” Punch Newspaper reports Wabba as saying.

Wabba said the policies to devalue the naira, increase the pump price and increase taxes had been ineffectual to helping the economy but have rather worsened the situation for the average Nigerian. He further decried the delayed action of the committee set up by the FG to review the minimum wage to N56,000, stating that the Congress will begin agitation at a national level and action in states owing more than 3 months’ pay.
