Lekki Building Collapse: Court Grants Contractors Bail Of N10 Million

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Lekki Garden Homes, Robert Nyong, was on Thursday at the Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court granted bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties.

Chief Magistrate Afolashade Botoku also granted bail to another contractor of one of the collapsed buildings, Taiwo Odofin for N10 million and two sureties also in the like sum.

The defendants were also ordered to submit their international passports and were told not to travel out of the country pending the conclusion of the matter before the court.

The Magistrate also ordered them to report at the State Criminal Investigation and intelligence Department, Panti-Yaba, on daily basis to help the police in the course of their investigation.

She also ordered the police to ensure that the defendants are brought to court in the next sitting.

Messrs Lekki Worldwide Estate, the owners of Lekki Garden Homes, and a construction company were charged to court by the Lagos Sate Government over the collapsed five-storey building that killed at list 35 people due to the use of substandard materials during the construction of the building.

Magistrate Botoku adjourned the matter till March 24.
