Kaduna State says death toll from recent bandits attack rises to 40

The death toll from the bandit attack on Kaduna communities over the weekend which received condemnation from President Muhammadu Buhari has risen to 40, according to the Kaduna State Government.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, in an update on Monday, according to the News agency of Nigeria.

He stated that 2 more bodies were recovered following the attacks on Giwa Local Government Area of the state.

What the Commissioner is saying

Aruwan stated that the recovery of the bodies increased the death toll to 40, adding that “security agencies carrying out search operations in the area reported the discovery of the two additional bodies.”

The attacks occurred at Kauran Fawa, Marke and Riheya villages in Idasu, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna which 38 victims were initially reported on Sunday.

Nairametrics reported earlier that President Muhammadu Buhari publicly condemned the killings by bandits in Kaduna state over the week, vowing to crush the activities of the bandits.

He added that security forces are “getting frustrated” by the killings of innocent Nigerians and are dedicated to eradicating the acts of terrorism.
