The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Monday, 28th March 2021 announced that 48 new confirmed covid-19 cases were registered on Monday, representing the lowest recorded in over 5 months.
This is according to information obtained from the daily status report of the NCDC, published on its website.
Also, the number of active cases in Nigeria has dropped to its lowest in over 3 months as it currently stands at 10,126, indicating a rapid flattening of the pandemic curve.
The last time Nigeria recorded a record low number of covid-19 cases was on the 24th of October 2020, when it recorded 40 confirmed cases and no covid related mortality.

Lagos State tops with the highest confirmed cases from the inception of the outbreak to date with 57,594, distantly followed by Abuja with 19,617 cases.
Plateau is third on the list with 9,024 cases, Kaduna (8,921), Rivers (6,909), Oyo (6,838), Edo (4,875), Ogun (4,617), Kano (3,908), and Ondo State with 3,172 cases of the virus.
Why this matters
The flattening of the covid-19 curve is a step towards the right direction as Nigeria will hope to be completely free from the pandemic so as to resume all its activities in full. Meanwhile, vaccines are already being administered across various states of the country.
