The Federal High Court has given an order for the immediate release of the deposed Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi from confinement and or detention.

Justice Anwuli Chikere gave the order in an ex-parte ruling on Friday morning after listening to the suit filed by the legal team of the former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Led by Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).
The Federal High Court Judge, in her ruling, held that the deposed Emir, who was forcefully taken to Awe in Nassarawa State against his wish, is entitled to his constitutionally guaranteed rights to personal liberty and movement. the ruling followed the application filed by Sanusi, through his team of lawyers on Thursday.
The respondents in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/357/2020, are the Inspector General of Police, The Director-General of the Department of State Service, the Attorney General of Kano State and the Attorney General of the Federation.
Meanwhile Justice Chikere has fixed March 26 to hear the substantive suit against these respondents.
The former CBN Governor who had approached the court to enforce his fundamental human rights specifically asked the court to order his release from confinement and or detention by the respondents and restore his rights to human dignity, personal liberty, freedom of association and movement in Nigeria apart from Kano pending the hearing and determination of the applicant’s originating summons.
The applicant also sought the leave of the court to effect service of the court order along with the originating motion and subsequent processes on all the respondents through substituted means, by allowing the processes to be served on any officer in the office of the respondents.
Altenatively, he sought the leave to publish the processes in at least one national newspaper.
In a related development, the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir,who recently appointed the former Emir into Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA) and as Chancellor of Kaduna State University, has just arrived Awe, Nassarawa to see the deposed Emir.
