Ecobank Transnational Incorporated appoints Laurence Do Rego as Group Chief Regulatory & Compliance Officer

Laurence Do Rego has been appointed as the Group Chief Regulatory & Compliance Officer of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), the parent company of Ecobank Group.

The Details: According to a notification by the Group to the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Laurence’s appointment is expected to take effect immediately. Laurence, who serves as a Group Executive and a member of the Group Executive Committee, would report directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer, Ade Ayeyemi.

Reacting to the latest appointment by the Group, Ade Adeyemi expressed how confident he was in Laurence’s ability to deliver the set target.

We are pleased to announce Laurence as our Group Chief Regulatory & Compliance Officer. In line with our commitment to continuously strengthen the standards around regulatory and compliance requirements across the Group, we recognize the importance of significantly high-level focus.

“Laurence has had a long career with the Ecobank Group with very strong an excellent knowledge of the Group and its operations. She is well versed to effectively manage the Group’s Regulatory and Compliance function,” he said.

Recently, the Board of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated appointed Deepak Malik as a Non-Executive Director.

Malik joined the ETI’s Board of Directors as a nominee of Arise B.V. (“Arise”) which currently holds a 14.1% equity stake in ETI following its purchase of shares previously held by IFC and the funds managed by the IFC Asset Management Company in August 2019.

His appointment took effect immediately after the resignation of Monish Dutt as a Director of ETI.

Laurence Profile: Laurence Do Rego holds both bachelor and postgraduate degrees in Finance and Accounting. She is a seasoned banker with over 30 years of professional experience. She joined Ecobank in 2002 as Financial Controller for Ecobank Benin. She has held various senior positions within the Group. She was previously Group Chief Financial Officer; Group Executive Director, Finance, Risk & Internal Control, Group Executive, Commercial Banking and more recently Senior Advisor to the GCEO in charge of Special Projects.
