NSE shakes off the bears as ASI closes Northward today

NSE Nigerian stocks, UBA, Zenith, First Bank lead actively traded stocks on Tuesday , Courteville, Jaiz Bank, Transcorp lead gainers on Friday 

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed today on an upbeat note, as the All Share Index closed at 0.28%. Year to date, the All Share Index is down 8.65%

Top Gainers and Losers 

AIICO insurance led the top gainers today closing at N0.99, up 10%. Jaiz Bank closed at N0.49, up 8.89%. C&I Leasing rounds off the top 3 gainers to close at N2.72, down 8.80%

On the flip side, Universal Insurance Plc closed at N0.36, down 10%. The company is yet to release a notice pertaining to a board meeting on its strategy to recapitalise, and traded unusually large volumes today. Fidson Plc also dropped by 10%, closing at N5.40. PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc rounds up the top 3 losers for the day, closing at N13.50, down 10%.

Top Trades by volume

The financial services sector dominated the high volume trades in today’s session, led by the banks.

UBA Plc was the largest traded stock by volume as 54.4 million shares valued at N436 million were traded in 237 deals. Access Bank Plc traded 38.4 million shares valued at N359 million in 198 deals. Stanbic IBTC rounds up the top three trades by volume with 35.2 million shares valued at N1.6 billion traded in 38 deals.

PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc will be closing its shareholders register from Monday 24th of September 2018 to Thursday, October 4, 2018 (both dates inclusive). Closure of register is done to compile shareholders that qualify for dividends.

The company will be paying a dividend of N0.15 (fifteen kobo) per share on Friday 19th of October 2018. Its Annual General Meeting (AGM) will hold on Thursday 18th of October 2018.
