All Share Index continues zig zag movement

NSE Nigerian stocks, UBA, Zenith, First Bank lead actively traded stocks on Tuesday , Courteville, Jaiz Bank, Transcorp lead gainers on Friday 

The equities market continued trading in a zigzag manner as the All Share index closed at 35,358.94 basis points, down 0.44%. The index rose 0.63% on Monday, then dropped by 0.32% in yesterday’s session.

Year to date, the index is down 7.54%.

Top Gainers and Losers 

Portland Paints and Products Nigeria Plc was the best performing stock in today’s trading session. The stock closed at N2.98, up 9.98%. Regency Alliance Insurance follows closely, with a 9.23% gain to close at N0.23. Skye bank rounds up the top 3 gainers, closing at N0.56, up 7.69%.

On the flip side, Livestock Feeds Plc was the worst performing stock in today’s session. The stock closed at N0.54, down 10%. Standard Alliance Insurance Plc closed at N0.38, down 9.52%. LASACO Assurance closed at N0.30, down 9.09%.

Top Trades by Volume 

NEM Insurance Plc was the largest traded stock by volume. 180 million shares valued at N540 million were traded in 41 deals. Next was UBA Plc which traded 27 million shares valued at N221 million in 369 deals. Transcorp rounds up the top 3 most traded with 21 million shares valued at N27.3 million traded in 150 deals.

Corporate Actions 

Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc

Seplat Petroleum announced the listing of its $350,000,000 9.25% Senior notes due 2023 on the International Securities Market of the London Stock Exchange.

Access Bank Plc 

Access Bank Plc released its results for the half year ended June 2018. Gross Earnings increased from N246 billion in 2017 to N253 billion in 2018. Profit before tax dropped from N52 billion in 2017 to N45.8 billion in 2017. Profit after tax increased slightly from N39.4 billion in 2017 to N39.6 billion in 2018.

The bank also declared an interim dividend of N0.25 per share.

Standard Alliance Insurance Plc

The NSE today lifted a full suspension placed on trading in the company’s shares following the release of its full-year 2017 results.
