Forte Oil Plc (the Company) announced the appointment of Dr. (Mrs). Mairo Usman Mandara and Mrs. Salamatu Hussaini Suleiman as Independent Non- Executive Directors of Forte Oil PIC.
Dr. Mairo Mandara is a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist. Dr. Mandara has extensive knowledge of public health systems and managing maternal and child health programs in Nigeria. After medical training at the University of Jos, Dr. Mandara practiced at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, northern Nigeria. Between 2005 and 2010, Dr. Mandara was a Senior Country Adviser in Nigeria to the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. She then worked as the Nigeria-based Health Systems Adviser for the Earth Institute at New York’s Columbia University. Dr. Mandara is a well-known advocate for girls’ human and reproductive health and rights and for the improvement of the status of women and girls in Nigeria.
Mrs. Salamatu Hussaini Suleiman is qualified lawyer and advocate. She has served as a Honourable Minister of State Il Foreign Affairs between August 2010 to May 201 1 and the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development between December 2008 and March 2010. She recently served as the Commissioner, Political Affairs Peace and Security at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) between February 2012 to March 2016. Prior to her appointments above, Mrs Suleiman was the Secretary to the Commission and Director, Legal Services at the Securities and Exchange Commission between 2001 to 2008. She was Company Secretary at Continental Merchant Bank between 1992 to 1996 and
Principal State Counsel at the Ministry of Justice, Sokoto State between 1983 to The above appointed Independent Non-Executive Directors are bringing a wealth of knowledge to the Board, following from their diverse experiences in their chosen fields.
