[Under their Noses] NNPC Filling Stations Join Others to Sell Petrol above N100 per Litre

Reports suggest many filling stations around the country are now selling petrol at a minimum of N100 per litre as against the official price of N87 per litre.

To make matters worse, the Punch Newspaper also reports filling stations belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation have also joined their independent counterparts in selling Premium Motor Spirit or petrol for a minimum of N100 per litre.

In some filling stations monitored around the country, the price of petrol goes for as high as N140 per litre.

Some vehicles owners who sent messages on early morning radio shows have also complained of not being able to buy petrol at N87 since Buhari came into power.

In some filing stations monitored, the petrol pump reads a price of N87 however the attendants collect N100 per litre or more depending on the station manager.

Thus the attendants are frequently seen with calculators which they use to determine the actual price of the product.

President Buhari came into Power about 62 days ago and is yet to deliver any major economic direction for the country.

Marketers have taken advantage of this situation and have refused to abide by the N87 price set by the government for reasons including but not limited to monies been owed by the government, depreciation of the naira and pressure to remove fuel subsidy.
