Dangote just made Lagosians a ‘promise’ he can’t ever keep

Whenever the richest man in Africa speaks everyone listens attentively. Aliko Dangote is also not one to make cheap promises especially as it relates businesses and state like Lagos. However, the mogul may have gone a step too far this time.

Aliko Dangote was reported to have promised Lagos state will have 24 power supply once he is done with the construction of a gas pipeline to address power supply challenges in Lagos State. He was reported to have said this during a courtesy visit to the office of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

That statement, if he made them is a promise he can never keep as the power situation in Lagos and indeed Nigeria is beyond gas. It is also beyond anyone individual and as such we do not see how his gas can all of a sudden increase power plants or distribution capacities in Lagos. He also did not attribute any timeline to the so called 24 hours power supply.

However, we all know some of our Newspaper reporters misquote statements a lot so one can give Aliko the benefit of the doubt. However, it will be to his best interest that he gets them to retract those comments if he did not make them.
