Help me help Arsenal!!

As a vivid Arsenal supporter, yesterday was supposed to be the end of a near six year wait for a trophy for the Gunners. We have patiently and painstakingly supported the team throughout these years as they drastically cut their budget on player purchases and concentrate on grooming kids with the hope that they grow into men and help us remain competitive even if it meant not winning trophies.

Throughout those years of waiting, Man United has scooped up 3 Premier League Titles, an FA Cup, Carling Cup and the Champions League. Our London neighbors Chelsea have their own equal share of premier league titles, carling cup and have won the FA cup twice. More annoying is our north london rivals, Spurs, who have also won the Carling Cup beating Arsenal on the way to the finals. Tough as all these achievement from our rivals may have been to us Gunners, we still clinged on to the belief that very soon, our patience will pay off.

But that was not to be. The wait had to be longer and if it must happen it will be through the toughest possible way. As for me, I had a sickening feeling about this and decided the best way to avoid the trauma of a 90 minutes suspense was to go out. Luckily a friend of mine chose me amongst others to follow him for his introduction which finished well before the match was expected to commence. Not to deter me, I dragged them to the Oniru beach where we were invited for a party. All the time, we were clutching to our blackberries checking the scores. In the 89th minute the inevitable happened. Arsenal defense had committed a kamikaze and gifted B’ham a goal…it was 2-1 to Bham. All the fanfare and flurry of activity at the beach couldn’t hide my seeming disgust and disappointment. The blood in my face had drained and I was visibly sick to the stomach. Not again? Why Arsenal? Are we cursed? Is it a jinx? Who will help me get out of this mess? Who will help me help Arsenal?

I don’t know want to talk about the apparent deficiency of this team or of the coaching team. I just feel they are jinxed and need help…..serious help. Till I get help I’d pretend all is good and try as much as possible to avoid other matches involving Arsenal.
