Just as Nigerians are complaining about the distress the economic condition of the country is causing them, the Minister of Finance has actually said that the country is moving out of the recession. “We are already getting out of recession because of the actions the federal government is taking. If you are in a problem, the day you start to step towards progression, you are already getting out of it, we are getting out of it.” she was quoted as saying. These are the reasons she gave for having that opinion
First, Madam Adeosun said that the country is spending the highest it has ever spent on capital infrastructure. The N700 billion the Federal Government says it has pumped to infrastructure in recent months is a case in point.
Secondly, the government has found sources of funding wastage and blocked them. These include the ghost workers who were identified and the resulting billions of naira saved. This, she believes is a sign of recovery from the recession.
In addition, she believes data compilation and analysis to quickly identify potential problems, would significantly help in turning the tide of recession in the country.
