Facebook fined

Some of the data were shared with Cambridge Analytica, which it used to target political advertising in the US.
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) said Facebook had let a serious breach of the law take place. The fine is the maximum allowed under the old data protection rules that applied before GDPR took effect in May.

Currently, Uber offers three ways for drivers and riders to communicate: SMS messaging, in-app chats, and public switched telephone networks. Uber became interested in VoIP as it expanded globally and found that, in many countries, data calling is cheaper than cellular calls.
