President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that the current economic downturn the country is facing will be over sooner than it started. He said this the final All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally for the party’s candidate at the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Edo State.
He reiterated that it is only Nigerians that could effectively solve Nigeria’s problems, alluding to his coup day speech 33 years ago.
“We are a nation of great human and material resources especially the youth. Please sit down, reflect and remember what I said 30 years ago. We have no other nation like Nigeria, no matter where you go. We may as well remain here and salvage it together,” ThisDay quotes Buhari as saying.
The National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun, echoed the President’s statements that the economy would revive faster than was been touted by external bodies. He did this after, as has been the case on many occasions, blaming the previously ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the current economic problems.
