The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has said that following the successful deployment of an end-to-end registration module, it was now prioritising the reduction of the registration circle for new companies to just 3 hours before the end of the year 2021.
This is coming after CAC had in November 2020, announced the implementation of new technology that will change the face of business registration including allowing customers to print their certificates with verifiable QR code from anywhere in the world.
This disclosure was made by the Registrar-General of the commission, Garba Abubakar, at a dinner in honour of the Chairman, Governing Board, CAC and Nigerian Ambassador-Designate to the Kingdom of Spain, Ademola Seriki.

In order to achieve this target, the Registrar-General said the commission was making arrangements to empower over 400 approving officers with working tools to process and approve registration applications either from home or anywhere necessary,” the agency stated.
Abubakar noted that the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic had adversely hampered CAC’s delivery timeline.
He, however, pointed out that CAC was resolutely committed to serving its customers despite being forced to operate with less than 50% of its workforce.

While bidding farewell to Seriki, the Registrar-General said he received the news of his appointment with mixed feelings as CAC was going to miss his tremendous support and guidance.
Also speaking at the event, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, described the outgoing CAC Chairman as a man of immense pedigree and endowed with enormous potential to justify the confidence reposed in him by the president.

Nice reporting Chike. However, CAC is one of the major obstacles to tge ease of doing business in Nigeria. It is a myth that an average Nigerian, without the help of any ‘agent’ can register their company or business name online. I fell for theirs propaganda, tried to register my company but it has been 33 days and counting now. No RC has been issued because I am not priority because I didn’t come through an agent
I live in Kaduna and l have been filing annual return in your Kaduna branch unsuccessfully manually for 2 years
I don’t know what to say or do. My experience with effort to register a business is almost becoming a nightmare. My registration application for an new company with availability #16197750351 was submitted since May 7, 2021. No response on the portal until I managed to get through to CAC number on June 8, 2021 after several effort. The guy who took the call promised i will get a response soon. By the end of that day CAC responded to my application with a query that says “complete blank fields in director and presenter’s form. This query has been sent about 5 times already and returned each time with same message. I am able to edit the presenter details under the compliance section (although without date of birth field showing) but it does not save after submission and hence the query repeats itself. The director’s details for myself who is also the presenter, i guess was taken from the Presenter’s details submitted during name availability application, I cannot also edit those details. I have tried severally to call CAC numbers without success since after that first successful call. I have sent SMS to all the numbers in the contact us section without a reply. I have sent an email without reply.
In repling one of the queries i was forced had to attach screenshots with an explanation of the difficulty in making the edits requested. However, no note of the attachment was indicated in subsequent queries to the resolutions summitted.
I am tired. If they can read this. The attachment with screenshot of the challenges can be viewed under the uploads; it is in the second to last item.
I really wish with all the innovation they should consider a box where one can add explanations to query resolution so the person approving can see why the query was thus resolved.
Also, can there be alternative support channels outside phone and emails because those two are rarely attended to.
It is frustrating to say the least.
