The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has disowned the names of the 50 announced persons that were banned from leaving the country.
Nairametrics had reported that President Muhammadu Buhari, ordered security agencies to place high profile Nigerians who are directly affected by Executive Order 6 (EO6), under watch list.
In a statement disclosed by Shehu, President Buhari gave directives to the Nigeria Immigration Service to place an embargo on those who are affected from travelling outside the country.
Recall that the names of the 50 high-profile persons banned from travelling outside Nigeria, were released.
Addressing the viral reports, Shehu said the presidency has not released any list and will not do so. “On the so-called list you asked for confirmation, I want to confirm to you that we have not issued any list and we are not doing so, “ he said.
According to Shehu, the Executive Order is revolutionary, and the essence was to make for speedy trials and conclusion of graft cases in the country.
“These high profile cases we are talking about have been ongoing for between seven to 10 years with no end in sight. These case were mostly originated by administrations other than this one.
“What is clear is that the access to these resources by the suspects has enabled them to be in a composition to sometime compromise investigation, prosecution and trial. In most of the cases, the courts are held in a helpless position by legal acrobatics paid for from corrupt enrichment by the suspects,” Shehu added.
He said the new measures put in place should compel everyone involved to make for a speedy conclusion of the cases. Shehu said, “If it is your money, you have it back. If it belongs to the public, it goes back to the treasury.”
We shall see, there is no Nigerian can be barred from travelling abroad presidential directive or order or not>this is the major problem in this govt either they duck the main issues or their failure to address the main issue, now is the presidency intervene in a criminal issue ?,all those individuals are on police bail or court bail.
Now,tell us what we do not know new, those who are on police bail are some required in some case (A)report to the police station a t least once a week. (B) surrender your Nigerian passport (C)give a surety of a Nigerian timber and substances.god save us in Nigeria,is it not making us Nigerians looking ridiculous or stupid
