The Lagos State Government has threatened to “enforce relevant provisions of the law” if owners of abandoned properties in Ikoyi and VI do not take physical possession of the properties and ensuring that they are complete, “restored and fit for rehabilitation”.
The Government claims these abandoned properties are now used by squatters, miscreants and criminal elements who take refuge in them.
The Government took two full pages (50 and 51) in the Punch for this publication. See pictures below;
A lot of the other state liaison offices in VI, mostly around ahmadu bello / bishop oluwole are abandoned and used for other things like bukas, squatters accommodation etc. And also a lot of multiple story buildings around marina / broad street. I know quite a few of them are involved in litigation but i would have thought the smart thing to do will be for some kind of property management company to handle the properties and then turn it over (including all profits) to the decided owners once the case is completed.
