President Goodluck Jonathan swore in eight new ministers on Wednesday, shoring up his power base just 10 days before a closely fought presidential poll. The president who referred to the introduction of the Minsiers as beenĀ in injury time used the opportunity to warn them that they will be watched closely in the coming days and weeks.
“This is in injury time. It is like bringing on a player when the match is about to end….You are coming at an injury time and your dancing steps will be watched by everyone,”
These are the names of the eight new Ministers and where they are from.
Information MinisterĀ – Patricia Akwashiki a senator from central Nasarawa state,
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs – Nicholas Ada, a lawyer from Benue state.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs – Musiliu Obanikoro, from Lagos State
Minister of state for defence –Ā Retired colonel, Augustine Akobundu, from Abia state.
Minister for State for Health – Fidelis Nwankwo, from eastern Ebonyi state
Minister for Trade and Industry – Kenneth Kobani, from Rivers state in the Niger Delta
Minister of State – Hauwa Lawan, from Jigawa state.
Minister of Labour – Joel Ikenya, from Taraba state.
