Uber Nigeria has announced a 50% price slash on all rides in Lagos between November 3 and November 13. The company made this known yesterday and said the campaign is aimed at rewarding loyal riders in Lagos who have made Uber their preferred choice of transportation.
For the company who is facing strikes among partner-drivers in Abuja as well as other international lawsuits, this campaign will serve as some good news for its customers.
“Lagos has always been a key city in Nigeria and Africa. We are always looking at innovative ways to celebrate riders, drivers and cities and we thought it was only fitting, as we come closer to the end of the year celebrations, that we reward our loyal riders with a 50% discount promotion. Giving riders a more affordable option to move around their city, and drivers an increase in demand for trips.” Ebi Atawodi, General Manager Uber West Africa said.
According to Atawodi, fares for rides are automatically discounted by an auto-apply discount code created by Uber. So, all riders need to is book and enjoy their cheaper rides. As f or driver-partners, the company says the discount does not affect their income as this promotion is being covered by Uber. Rather, they should anticipate more demand and less idle waiting times.
