The N780 billion MTN fine may further be slashed, a member, House of Representatives, has said.
Deputy Chairman of House Committee on ICT, Ahmed Garba Bichi, has hinted that the N780 billion fine on telecoms giant, MTN may further be reduced.
He said this at the Nigeria Internet Governance Forum (NIGF) that the legislators were still “consulting” with the executive on how to go about collecting the fine.
The Lawmaker further said that though the MTN was obliged to pay the fine, “but it may not be the whole thing.”
Bichi said that there is work in progress concerning the ongoing consultation between the committee set up by the House and officials from the Ministry of Communications on how the payment should be made.
The Deputy Chairman said “The committee members are going to speak with the company, MTN, as soon they finish their consultations”, he said.
