During the week Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola commissioned two new roads in Lagos State. They were Akerele Road as well as Adelabu street. These were amongst numerous roads, bridges that have either been repaired, expanded or newly constructed in his nearly half a decade of being the Governor of the state.
The people of Surulere can’t complain much as they have seen their fair share of the dividend of democracy during this period. Roads have been either repaired or constructed in virtually every major neighborhoods in Surulere you begin to wonder if Surulere has been more favored than any other area. Since the Governor grew up in Surulere an probably still lives there, would it be wrong to think otherwise?
Here is a list of some of the major roads or bridges that has been constructed in Surulere;
1. Ojuelegba Road
2. Lawanson Road
3. Ogunlana Road
4. Akerele Road
5. Adelabu Street
6. Eric More Road
7. Bode Thomas Street
8. Adeniran Ogunsanya
9. Ijeshaatedo Road
10. Ishaga Road
11. Surulere, Isolo link bridge
That’s almost a dozen roads with considerable face lifts and all of these toll free. I’m not sure any other major part of Lagos has seen this much road construction. Is that then enough to infer Lagos is highly favored?
